Great Britain’s Jon Dibben was 8th in the Junior Men World Time Trial Championship, 48 seconds down on winner, Mads Schmidt who won the race with his best performance ever in his home capital.
Fastest at all the intermediate times from start to finish, the 17 year old Dane took gold ahead of New Zealand sensation James Oram and Australia’s David Edwards who won the third medal for the Aussie team from three events contested so far.
Jon Dibben, who rides for Hargroves Cycles in Britain, finished the race against the watch with a time of 35.55 and said afterwards “Pretty chuffed with my ride in the TT! Had good legs but maybe could have commited more early on but cant complain. Really looking forward to Road Race. His Hargroves Cycles teammate Owain Doull from Wales was on the other hand not pleased with his race saying “I’m disappointed with my ride in the Time Trial. I didn’t have the legs today but hopefully will go better in the road race on Saturday”.
