2012 Events: Atrial Fibrillation Sportive

Sportive in North Yorkshire on March 18 in aid of a charity called Atrial Fibrillation Association

The sportive, according to organiser Martin Harman is part of a fundraising campaign he is doing over the next 12 months to raise £10,000 for the charity. “I am an amateur Triathlete that suffers with the condition Atrial Fibrillation which is an abnormal and irregular heart rhythm” says Martin. “I have suffered with the condition for over 5 years now and in that time the charity of been of tremendous support to me. I have recently qualified to represent team GB at the European Triathlon Championships to be held in Israel in April 2012 and am fundraising on the back of this.”

The sportive will be held on Sunday 18th March starting at 9am. The starting venue will be from AquaPoint Ltd, 9 Rye Close, York Road Business Park, MALTON, YO17 6YD

The event is according to Martin, a scenic yet challenging 60 mile ride taking in the beautiful Howardian Hills, Castle Howard Estate and North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Starting and finishing at Malton, the route makes a steady ascent up onto the Yorkshire Moors with the trip back home being rudely interrupted by the infamous climb of Rosedale Chimney Bank, which is then rewarded by a long and exhilarating descent back down into the Vale of York.

The event is open and ready for entry and the closing date is 17th March 2012.
