News: Ixworth races on May 7 proving popular

This years Ixworth Mayday Criterium Races on Monday May 7th and promoted by West Suffolk Wheelers & Tri Club, is proving very popular with many local riders all keen to get a ride using the new two race format.

This includes races for various categories of riders plus an invitational race and makes for a very entertaining afternoon of racing.

Youth riders are always a big part of the Ixworth Programme with many local club riders often making their debut into the racing scene as this give them a rare chance to ride a closed road circuit as well as the opportunity to meet their pro team favourites.

This year Team Raleigh -GAC have placed some importance on the races fielding six riders which will include Crit Champion Graham Briggs. Also, previous winner Martin Ford (Ingear/Trainsharp); Continental rider Chris Bartlett and IG Markets Sigma Rider Jake Hales, plus local rider Nathan Miller (XRT Elmy) all aim to be in the mix in the Elite race.

The Masters and the 3/4 races have also started to fill up with local teams such as Strada Sport fielding riders aiming for top honours; which this year will include prize money for the 50+ Catagory .

There are still some places available in some of the races.

Masters 40+ 2nd, 3rd, 4th | 20 mins plus 5 laps
3/4 | 20 mins plus 5 laps
Junior Regional | 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th | 20 mins plus 5 laps
E/1/2 | 20 mins plus 5 laps
U12/U10 | 10 mins plus 3 laps
U14 | 15 mins plus 3 laps
U16 | 15 mins plus 3 laps

Invitational B | Elite 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th | 40 mins plus 5 laps
Invitational A | Elite 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Elite | 50 mins plus 5 laps
