Northumberland and Durham Cycling Association’s 50 mile Time Trial (The Jesmond Cup) is being run on Bank Holiday Monday, the 4th of JuneĀ

Northumberland and Durham Cycling Association’s 50 mile Time Trial (The Jesmond Cup) is being run on Bank Holiday Monday, the 4th of June 2012, at The Beaconhill community centre, Langdale Drive, Cramlington.

The race is run on the M509 course, which starts at Bassington, then goes to Ellington, then back to Bassington, then Ellington again and finishes at Plessey Checks. The race is a N & DCA best all rounder qualifying event and a Best Best All rounder qualifying event. The race is run under the rules of Cycling Time Trials and starts at 7am.

Also, the Barnesbury Cycling Club is promoting a series of Mountain Bike events at Gallagher Park Bedlington, the first event is on Monday the 21st of May 2012. The series is ten weeks long, and there are races every Monday night. There are events on May 21st, May 28th, 4th June, 11th June, 18th June, 25th June, 2nd July, 9th July, 16th July and the 23rd of July.

The races are financially supported by Bernicia, a local housing company, and Start Cycles a local bike shop are helping with the prize list. All ten races are run under the rules of the British Cycling Federation. There are youth races starting at 6.30pm then adult races starting at 7.30pm. The youth races qare Go Ride type races, suitable for Beginners and the Adult races are GO MTB events again geared towards novices.
