News: Alan Rosner Passes away

Organiser of the Maldon Dengie Tour, Alan Rosner, has passed away. It’s said that he had been diagnosed only four weeks ago with a very aggressive form of cancer and within two weeks, passed away. I personally never knew Alan that well except to talk to on the phone in the run up to his race, the Dengie Marshes, which was inspired by the CiCLE Classic organised by Colin Clewes.

Alan took his race from a national B event right up to a Premier Calendar race this year and was very passionate about it and even when unwell, was working all hours to make sure it was the best it could be. Alan also worked with riders and was seen far from home at races helping Eastern region riders.

Hopefully his race will continue as a memorial to a man who did so much in the Eastern Region for cycling. Another case of how sad it is that such characters and doers in the world are taken from us.

Alans funeral will be this Monday 4th June at The Western Synagogue Cemetary, Bulls Cross Ride, Cheshunt, EN7 5HT, ( 12 midday ).

RIP Alan ….
