Team Press Release:
Mark, a second category rider who has had to endure a forced rest due to illness and exams, is delighted to be progressing his cycling achievements supported by Sprit RT. In his first race back, he spent the day in the breakaway group of the central Regional Road Race Champs eventually running out of gas in the last few miles, finishing tired but happily in the bunch.
Spirit RT riders, who support midweek racing at the Milton Keynes Bowl were pleased to see Mark finish 4th in the MKCA event earlier last week. Despite a tough block of training, Mark finished the week off with his first win of the season at the Redbridge Cycling Centre, attacking almost from the gun before being joined by two others later in the race. He then broke clear of his companions on the uphill finish.
Marks best result so far in 2012 though came two days later in the Peterborough National B race held over 125km at Sawtry, Cambridgeshire. The race was dominated by a 12 man lead group being driven by a very strong Node4 team as well as Mark’s team mate Ashley Cox. Mark finished on the podium behind Marcin Bialblocki & David Clarke when they escaped the lead group 15 miles before the finish.
Team manager Simon Howes commented “It’s great to see Mark progressing towards his goals for 2012. I knew Mark was coming into form. As well as product and financial support, Spirit RT riders receive advice on training. Part of this includes motor pacing and Marks last session was run off at record speeds”.
“We are looking forward to the rest of the season with our eye on progression as we move towards 2013. We have lots of exciting plans for next year so have already started the process of talking to riders as we expand our roster of riders & sponsors”.
