Milan, Italy, June 13th, 2012 – After coming seventh in the recent Critérium du Dauphiné, Jani Brajkovič will be taking to the roads of his home country in the Tour of Slovenia from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th June. The race represents the final stage in preparations for the Tour de France, where Brajkovič will be Pro Team Astana’s designated leader.
The complete team for the race, to be managed by Team Manager Giuseppe Martinelli and DS Gorazd Stangelj, will be: Jani Brajkovič, Borut Bozič, Evgeny Petrov, Simone Ponzi, Kevin Seeldraeyers and Egor Silin. Speaking about the upcoming race, Martinelli told us: “The team will obviously be captained by Jani Brajkovič, who is riding at home, is the top Slovenian cyclist and I am sure he will get a really warm reception from his fans. He did well at the Dauphiné and we are satisfied with his performance. It was a hard race and seventh place overall is a good sign for the Tour de France. His condition is improving but I have already seen some good things during the Alpine stages.
“We think the squad we are taking to the Tour of Slovenia can be competitive. Not only do we have Brajkovič, but the other riders are also top class I am expecting a great deal from them.”
