Result: Wakefield CC Midweek Road Race

Last night’s Wakefield CC road race saw the sun shining for the 37 starters with the win going to Graham Rose

Held on the Sharleston circuit with six wearing down laps, Graham Rose attacked with his team mate Matthew Bulmer (Dirtwheels cycles RT) on the second of the six laps up the climb on the A655. They soon got a gap of 34 seconds on the finish line with three laps to go and this was to increase to 44 seconds and then 1:05 on the final lap.

Attacks came from Ashley Proctor (Sportscover) but he never got more than 15 seconds and other attacks were pulled back into the bunch. On the final lap, Alex Mitchell and Giles Pidcock, broke away from the peloton to claim 3rd and 4th. It was a great event by Matthew Wood who did his club proud on his first attempt of organising a road race.
