Event News: Great Orme Road Race

The Great Orme Road Race will be taking place on the 30th September 2012 on a closed road race circuit consisting of a number of laps of the iconic Great Orme Marine Drive.

The route has some outstanding views out over the Irish Sea and consists of some gentle alpine-esque climbs and a super fast descent to sea level. The race will have BC ranking points and will cater for Category 2,3,4 riders who will do six full laps of the 5.4 mile circuit, finishing off with a 3/4 lap finale upto the Rest and Be Thankful Cafe. £250 for the winner plus other top goodies.

There will also be a Youth A/B race with the riders doing two full laps and one full lap respectively with a 3/4 lap finale to the finish. £50 for the winner of each category plus prizes. Youth C riders also get a race, 3/4 of a lap on most flat sections with a gentle climb to the finish. £30 for the winner plus prizes

A Ladies Race and Go Race are also on the programme, two full laps with a 3/4 lap finale to the finish. £100 for the winner plus prizes

Every entrant will receive a bag containing a recovery drink, energy drink, energy bar, gel, fruit and other stuff to be confirmed. Other prize categories include King of the Mountains, Sprint, Combativity, Lightest Bike, Heaviest Bike, Dirtiest Bike (yes, you read it right) and the Best Legs on Show (as judged by the winner of the Ladies race!).

Village Dairies, our main Sponsor will be on hand to let you try some of their delicious yogurts, as well as KTM bikes to show off their new range of bikes, ADR Carbon and Halfords suppor mechanics amongst. All proceeds from the race will be going to Ty Gobaith (Hope House) Childrens Respite Home, who are currently looking after 70 terminally children. So every person who enters will doing their bit for this worhtwhile charity.
