Report: Scunthorpe Poly Circuit Races Blyton

Lone win for Peter Cocker while Callum Rogers seals the overall win after Mark Cotton pulls his foot out in final sprint to decide series at the Scunthorpe Poly Circuit Races at Blyton

Going into the last of the series the senior points was tied between the promoting clubs Callum Rogers & Mark Cotton both on 112 points. The last event set off at a brisk pace mainly due to the efforts of Lee Allen (RVO Racing). A small group formed off the front and eventually joined up with a chasing group to form a break of 9 riders.

These 9 stayed away to contest the places on the last lap with Peter Cocker (Witham Whs) taking his chance to escape the group chased by Steve Coates of We Love Mountains. These two took the 1st & 2nd places with the rest sprinting it out for 3rd place.

An interesting scenario developed behind from the chasing group with the series leaders escaping the chasers to come in alone to contest the finish. With just 1 point on offer for 10th place it meant the winner of this sprint would win the league. As they hit the finish straight Callum Rogers lead out the sprint hard with 150m to go Mark Cotton attempted to pass but pulled his foot out leaving Rogers to coast in & take the league series by 1 point.

Max Poole finished 2nd in the Youth C/D race but he had already enough points to secure 1st place in the league . The race being won By Lewis Nutt from Dinnington.

The Youth A/B was won by Jersey Visitor Oliver Lowthorpe from Alex Dalton Hull Thursday
