Dave Shackleton wins the Stocksbridge CC RR at Penistone, South Yorkshire for category 2/3/4 riders last Sunday

Stocksbridge CC/Irwin Mitchell Solicitors/Claremont Hospital/Sage Cycles promoted their first ever Road Race on Sunday. The race took on a hilly course around Penistone Cawthorne Upper Denby and Ingbirchworth in Sunny Calm conditions.

After 5 and 3 quarter laps of the 9mile circuit totalling 50miles it was Dave Shackleton of Wilson Wheels who had broken clear of his two companions in a two lap break away that took the 1st place honours.

The race had split from the very first lap with many riders calling it an early day and taking an early shower. Over the next few laps various groups made efforts to stamp their mark but it was Dave Shackleton, Mike Harrison from Congleton and Simon Maudsley of Rother Valley Racing that were to break the hold of the bunch to come home 30seconds apart after the final ascent of Upper Denby.
