2011 podium finisher Jan Barta returns with NetApp as provisional Tour of Britain start list announced

2011 Tour of Britain podium finisher Jan Barta returns to this year’s Tour of Britain, leading the UCI ProContinental Team NetApp squad, whose provisional rider line-up was announced today. The Czech rider finished third overall 12 months ago, with teammate and fellow countryman Leopold Koenig also returning and aiming to better his ninth overall in the 2011 Tour of Britain.

Barta will be the best placed rider from the 2011 Tour of Britain on the Neptune Quay startline for Stage One of The Tour from Ipswich to the Norfolk Showground on Sunday 9th September. Since their first Tour of Britain appearance last year, Team NetApp have gone to make their Grand Tour debut, riding the Giro d’Italia in May. Four members of the team’s Tour of Britain line-up road in the Giro, with Barta and Bartosz Huzarski both taking second places during the three-week race.

Amateur cyclists can follow in the wheeltracks of Barta and his NetApp colleagues by taking on one of The Tour’s mass participation Tour Rides this September. Five Rides are available in East Anglia, Scotland, Wales, Stoke-on-Trent and at the Birmingham NEC Cycle Show on Sunday 30th September.
