Jack Bobridge is a former under-23 world time trial champion (Mendrisio 2009) and a world record holder on the track. The Aussie is going to Rabobank from GreenEdge and has signed a two-year contract. This year, his focus was on track racing, having won silver medals at the world championships (team and individual pursuit) and during the Olympic games (team pursuit).

“I want to develop myself further on the road,” says the man that reeled in two world titles at Apeldoorn’s track in 2011 and achieved silver in the team pursuit in London. “Rabobank Cycling Team is experienced in training young talents and turning them into good road racers. I’m a real team player and I really want to help my team mates. That’s where my strength lies.”

Rabobank’s Jos van Emden has also extended his contract for a year. Van Emden is happy with the confidence the team has bestowed upon him after a less good 2012: “I wasn’t really able to show myself this year due to a number of circumstances. Fortunately, I was able to ride a good program anyway during the last months and show my better side. I am very happy with this contract extension, I know what’s expected of me. My job is to properly drop off the team’s quick men. That really makes me feel accomplished, and I think I can be an asset in that sense.”

Danish rider Matti Breschel will be leaving the team and stepping over to SaxoBank-Tinkoff Bank.
