Out of the Saddle – an Evening with the Downing brothers returns for a fourth year

Cycling brothers Dean and Russell Downing will once again be hosting “Out of the Saddle – An Evening with the Downing Brothers” on Saturday 20th October 2012 at The Carlton Park Hotel in Rotherham. Last year’s event saw the brothers joined by stars from the cycling scene; Team Sky riders Alex Dowsett and Ben Swift, Rapha Condor Sharp Directeur Sportif John Herety, Graham Briggs, James McCallum and many more.

With family and many friends from the cycling community attending, the night was heartily enjoyed by all who attended. Looking to build on the previous three editions, the night will once again feature a buffet, auction, disco and guest interviews conducted by Eurosport’s cycling commentator David Harmon. Dean and Russell have been speaking to several riders on the recent Tour of Britain, who are keen to attend the popular evening of entertainment and fundraising.

Russell has enjoyed another fantastic year with Endura Racing, with his biggest team result coming just this week, helping out in Jonathan Tiernan-Locke’s Tour of Britain overall victory. Older brother Dean has also had another successful year, on and off the bike; the Rapha Condor Sharp rider is working to raise the profile of cycling with the Out of the Saddle Youth Cycling Club.

This year the brothers have decided to support Brothers on Bikes (http://www.brothersonbikes.org.uk). Sam (aged 15) and Ollie (aged 14) have recently completed the John O’Groats to Land’s End ride in memory of their Uncle Malcolm who passed away with cancer in November 2011.
