Team News: Hargroves Cycles

Last weekend was another highly successful one for the Hargroves Cycles team around the country.

The weekend brought to a close the track season in spectacular fashion as Jon Dibben and Sam Lowe took a dominating win in the Junior National Madison champs. They took most of the sprints during the race and controlled the race to the very end showing how strong they both are.

Jon Dibben also took a fine second place in the senior national pursuit championships behind ex Hargroves Cycles team mate Owain Doull. Jon then carried on with another 2nd place in the Scratch race losing on the line by centimetres. The Hargroves Cycles team pursuit squad then took a hard fought bronze medal against extremely tough competition.

With the cyclo-cross season already in full swing, the team carried on the momentum clearing out the podium in the Wessex league, with Steve James, Stu Bowers and Matt Macdonald 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Matt Hargroves finished a solid 5th after having had two punctures which was an excellent ride!

Ian Field rode the USGP this weekend in a field that was full of superstars from America with Ian taking a brilliant 5th on the Saturday and then backing it up with a convincing 7th the day after in what sounded and looked like very difficult conditions.

Tom Van Den Bosch kicked off his season at Neerpelt in Belgium but a untimely crash forced him to retire. Hopefully he will bounce up again for next week’s race.
