Quickstep’s director sportif Wilfred Peeters says that he expects the race to end up in a bunch kick as the profile is very much flat and fast — aside from a few cobbles. “Normally this race is for the sprinters. It’s not really hard but sometimes we have the wind that can change things.”

“We will start with Ciolek and Fenn as options for the sprint and the team will work for them. This race is also a good test for our German riders to show themselves in their home country. We don’t ride often in Germany, so it will be a special moment for them to ride in front of their public. Unfortunately Grabsch won’t be able to ride because of a fever and his place is taken by Niki Terpstra.”
