Lord Mayor of Manchester Visits World Masters

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Elaine Boyes, visited the World Masters Track Cycling Championships during the morning events taking place in the National Cycling Centre on Thursday October 11th.

The Lord Mayor was accompanied by the Lady Mayoress Linda Geoghegan and met riders from the many of the 29 countries taking part in the event.

The championships are taking place over an eight day period from October 7th to 14th with 400 competitors competing in events for riders aged over 35. They can compete in one or all of the main titles, Time Trial, Sprint, Individual Pursuit, Points Race and Scratch Race. There will also be a Team Sprint Championship for the men and a further Team Sprint test event for the women.

Racing takes place each evening from 7 pm with the Saturday and Sunday programme starting at 11 am and featuring some exciting special events.

Advance tickets are available at Reception at the National Cycling Centre and will also be available at the door during the championships. Ticket prices are very modest with all day prices at £8 and £5 for concessions during the week and £10 and £5 for concessions for the final two days.
