Adding her name to Jo Tindley and Jessie Walker, Harriet is another fast finisher on the Stoke on Trent based team. The newly crowned National Madison Champion is currently ranked 3rd in the UK Elite rankings and is clearly looking forward to joining the new team. “I can’t wait to become a member of the Matrix Fitness squad in 2013. Their team structure and ethics will hopefully benefit me to become a better rider as well as help the team achieve much bigger things.”

Big win for Harriett Owen in 2012 at Peterborough

“Harriet is an impressive rider; she rides at 100% every time and is very fast in the finish of a race. She proved that in Peterborough and came close to other major victories during the year. But it was her overall performances that stood out to me, along with her passion for racing. Riding week after week for the world champion has a lot of pressure, and can detract from result, but Harriet handled it well and still managed to show her ability, which for someone so young is very impressive. I’m pretty sure with a team around her, she going to be hard to beat” commented team manager Stefan Wyman on the signing.

“I’ve set my ambitions high with a focus on the criterium season for next year. Podium results in Johnson Health GP Series and national criteriums as well as helping the team to retain their Johnson’s Health Tech series title. Alongside that I’m looking forward to testing myself against other riders in Europe as I think it will benefit my racing back here in the UK” added Harriet.

“We’ve always been about trying to put the right team together so they can progress as one. I think the prospect of having Harriet and Jo in the same team is very exciting. They could be a very dynamic duo in the finish of events. Riders like Jessie can certainly learn from them, and hopefully all 3 will learn from the team and we can continue to a force to be reckoned with. We need to start to get a better return from the open road races in the UK, and show that we can take on the UK’s best riders on a weekly basis. Hopefully with a very well rounded squad we’ll be able to do that” continued Wyman.

The Matrix Fitness team are also co-promoting the Bedford 2 Day race in 2013 and hope to be able to help take that race to another level and provide a great weekend of women’s racing as part of the Women’s Team Series. The event is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the UK and new backing has been found for the event, with the final day of racing taking place at the Millbrook test track in Bedfordshire.
