Les Filles Racing Team are entering their second season after a successful inaugural year in 2013, which saw them finish 5th in the Women’s Team Series and winners of the London Women’s Cycle Racing League.

Their focus will be on national-level road and criterium races, as well as participating in local races such as the London Women’s League and South-East Women’s Time Trial League. Les Filles RT were originally formed to provide riders with a competitive, supportive, encouraging, but fun and friendly environment in which to train and race. They are not aiming to be a professional or development team. All riders have careers and full-time jobs, many with senior and demanding positions.
Team manager and rider, Nicole Oh says, “The team are hoping to prove once again that with enough commitment, and a positive and sensible work-life balance, we can compete against the top riders and teams in the UK. We also believe that team work doesn’t begin on the start line of a race. With all riders being based in London, it gives us the opportunity not only to regularly train and race together, but also to socialise over a drink or piece of cake, which is just as important for team bonding and a successful team”.
The team are self-governed, with members contributing to the decision-making and running of the team. In 2014, they are being supported by Imperial Cycles Workshop in Isleworth who will provide race day support, servicing and equipment. Jim Clarkson continues with kit and website design, and team kit is being supplied by Wildoo.
2014 sees the addition to the team of Three Peaks Cross Champion Delia Beddis, and sprinter Clare Gillott. The road line up also includes Nicole Oh, Coralie Glaunes, Nikki Engelbach, Kate Hewett, Helen Ralston, and Kate Sloan. Emma Williams will focus on time trials, whilst Vikki Filsell will race on the track.
