The view from the top! – Carr Lane Hill climb

Competitors (and crowds) came to do and watch the battle at the B & DCC hill climb event held on the new course OHC12 Carr Lane up to Palterton Village in Derbyshire. The event was organised and promoted by Bolsover and District Cycling Club but was made possible by the generous help of Palterton Residents association who helped provide extra parking logistics to stop congestion in the village on the day.

Previously this has been a small club course but yesterdays event was a bigger occasion open to all Time Triallists. The event was part of a double header having being moved to an afternoon slot to avoid clashing with the Chris Storer Memorial Hill climb at Crich in the morning. Four (brave?) competitors on the day did both events!

The course in an undulating one, 1.5k in similar in length to the national event this year on Pea Royd Lane. The noise and waves of encouragement all the way up the hill for the riders was astounding, everyone who attended pledged to be back next year! The quality of the competition was first rate, all the competitors who entered recordered a PB even those hardy souls who had raced up Crich in the morning.

The events was won by a hill climbing regular Adam Kenway (Team Zenith) and for the Ladies Lou Collins (Beeston RC) both of whom won the Crich event. Danny Featherstone (Bolsover and District Cycling Club/Andy Moore Racing ) 2nd, Chris Myhill (Peak RC) 3rd and 1st male Vet (also won vets at Crich!)

James Hill (RST Trigon) rode very very strongly early on in the field and was a clear leader until the last three riders off, he was pipped to 4th by a second! But won the Jnr U18 competition, a very strong performance from a such young competitor. The competing field was also well represented by female and young racers. The ladies race was won by Lou Collins (Beeston RC) with Louise Phillip (Mansfield Road Club) 2nd and Bex Wager (B&DCC) 3rd.

The junior event (U18) was won by James Hill (RST racing) and Juvenile Prize (U16) went to Luke Hind (Bolsover and District CC)
