This is the first track league to be held at the Velodrome at Lee Valley VeloPark, home to track cycling events at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, since it opened it’s doors to the public earlier this year. Continuing the legacy journey of London 2012, the FGC Track League will bring weekly, indoor racing to the capital for the first time, providing brand new opportunities for riders to improve and fine-tune their track racing capabilities in an aspirational, World Class competitive environment.

In addition to the competitor legacy, these events will provide an opportunity for people who want to be involved in track racing in a support role to gain Velodrome experience. We will be working with British Cycling to accommodate regular commissaire training and with Lee Valley Velopark to develop a pool of local volunteers.

Event Director Tony Gibb has extensive experience of Elite and Professional race wins to his credit and a passion for coaching and developing riders at all levels.

“Having a venue of this calibre in London is a dream come true for cyclists in the South East and it is vitally important for us to use it to it’s full potential. I am very proud to be able to promote this series and hope to make it an aspirational and popular event for many years to come.” (Tony Gibb)

With around 400 riders registered to take part (including almost 50 women) racing is guaranteed to be highly competitive and the race programme includes Scratch, Points and Elimination races with distances ranging from 30 to 80 laps. In addition, one Monday night each month has been set aside for special events, which are open to all members, and will include skills development sessions in disciplines like Madison and Keirin.

Racing takes place weekly on Monday nights and fortnightly on Thursday nights, from 7pm to 10pm, with Mondays dedicated to the more advanced A/B competitors and Thursdays set aside for Women and C category Male competitors.

The venue is also open to spectators and the Concourse Café will be serving hot and cold food and beverages through until 8pm.
