Olympic Team Pursuit Champion and Double World Track Champion Joanna Rowsell headlines a stellar elite women’s field at the next round of the Revolution Series at the National Cycling Centre on 22nd November. Bronzini is part of a quartet of Italian riders making the trip to Manchester looking to use the Revolution event as preparation for the upcoming Track World Cup in London. After missing the Mexico World Cup to focus on training, Rowsell will also be targeting the Revolution Series as an ideal opportunity to fine tune her form as she builds up to defending her world titles in February 2014.

“I will be riding a couple of the Revolution meetings this winter like I did last year and as any of the riders will tell you it’s a welcome break from your regular training routine” she said. “My intention is to race mainly the bunch races, which are not my strongest suit, which should hopefully make me work really hard!”

The elite women’s race programme will feature a Points Race, Scratch and Elimination. The women will also have a chance to test their track stand skills in the Revolution Longest Lap which has been enhanced following the success at round 1 in London.

“The Revolution Longest Lap was one of the highlights of round 1 so we will be including at every round this season” commented event promoter James Pope. “We are enhancing the format at Round 2 following a suggestion from Elinor Barker – she had the idea of including women on back straight and men on finish straight then doing a two lap sprint with the men trying to chase down the women.”

Barker welcomed the news: “That’s great news about the longest lap – I’m really looking forward to it! I don’t know if I’ll be any good at it but it should certainly be lots of fun so I can’t wait to give it a go!” Adam Blythe won the Revolution Longest Lap at Round 1.

Limited tickets are available for Round 2 on www.cyclingrevolution.com or by calling See Tickets on 0844 412 4650.
