In a race won by Simon Andreassen (Denmark) from Eli Iserbyt (Bel) and Max Gulickx (Holland), the top GB rider was William Gascoyne (14th) who said afterwards “I was pretty shocked to get where I was because I started from the back. I was struggling before the technical sections, and on some of them I could really nip past people. I think my MTB experience helped me.”

“It was a fantastic race. The track changed half way through the layer of ice covering the mud melted and I lost a lot of time on my third lap because I didn’t watch out for it, but I couldn’t be more happier with that.

Alfie Moses was (35th) and said to Paul “I just didn’t have it in me today. Its been a long season but I have peaked to early. Its been a very good season for me but I feel worn out. It’s been pretty much full on since August racing every weekend. I’m only first year so I can take a lot from this season and learn next season.”

Arthur Green (28th) “I got knocked off on my first lap, so I was stone last by about 20 metres by the time I got my chain back on. But I picked my way through the field and I got a lot quicker when the grass started to thaw out and got slippery. When it was icy, it was more like a road race. I’m more skilful than powerful so towards the end, I had a few people bin it in front of me so I moved up a few places. I am more than happy from the back of the grid to 28th is good enough, and I look forward to a few days off now”

Josh Waters (32nd) “First lap I made a few places off but then my rear brake came off so I lost some time with that, then my tub rolled so just a bit of bad luck but overall I’m very happy with the result”.
