Dan McLay finished ahead of teammate Yauheni Hutarovich in a bunch kick that was so tight at the end that he had to watch the video. Moroccan Salah Mraouni completed the podium.

Dan said afterwards “Yes, I’m really happy to have won, it’s a victory that really gives me confidence for the rest of the season. I feel really confident that my legs are responding well. It’s good to win a stage so early in the season”.

“It took a photo finish to separate us. We launched the sprint a long way out and then we took the front in turn. I was sprinting without really watching what was going on, but if Yauheni had raised his arms, I would have been happy because he is in the same team”.

“The first two stages were really tough, really hot and dry but now with air conditioning, we adapt quickly (laughs)”
