The race is held in memory of former Ystwyth CC member Angela Davies, who sadly lost her fight against cancer in 2005 at the age of 32.

She was the daughter of club life member Ken Williams. She would regularly attend the weekly time trials and the club’s road races assisting with various duties. She also travelled all over the country with her father to assist him at races that he commissaired at.Her family appreciate that Ystwyth CC organise the race in her memory.

This years race is ranked as National B, open to Elite category athletes, and also 1st, 2nd and 3rd category amateurs. It promises to be hard early season challenge for all, featuring the infamous New Row climb four times and the welcome return of the ’49′er’ Welsh/Alpine hybrid climb which comes at three quarter distance, before a rolling descent back towards the town of Aberystwyth.

Riders will race 4.5 laps of the small circuit, total distance 120k

With a full compliment from the JLT Condor squad, along with NFTO, Pedal Heaven and SportsCrub-Kuota also entering riders, this may well be one of the first UK races where the domestic elite riders show their hand. The race incorporates 4 1/2 laps of a 13 mile circuit on the course, riding the 1km prime hill of New Row four times before heading out to the main climb of the day, the one mile 10-16% ’49′er climb, names as such in the mid 1980′s by local cyclists who failed to register speeds beyond 49 miles per hour on it’s descent.
