News – Kingsbury Cup Track Meeting Off

The Easter Track meeting incorporating the New Kingsbury Cup scheduled for Easter Sunday at Reading has had to be cancelled

From the organisers … We received an email from BCHQ late yesterday which included the following extract

‘To organisers and clubs delivering events or coaching, training activity at Palmer Park. Please find below some update notes about Palmer Park. I would be grateful if you could remind all those in attendance at meetings where this subject will be discussed that the following information is provided for purposes of discussion and resolution.

British Cycling appointed an independent building surveyor to undertake a condition survey of the track and the infrastructure. In addition, in the past week, a risk assessment has been carried out by the British Cycling Cycle Sport department.

The findings of these separate exercises conclude that, in its present condition the track, surrounds and in particularly the fence, are unsafe for hosting formal British Cycling cycle sport events. The next stage will require us to discuss the upgrade recommendations with the council. For the avoidance of doubt, British Cycling will not sanction formal cycle sport events on this venue until further notice.”

Therefore it is with great regret that I have to inform you that this track meeting is cancelled and we will not be seeking to run the meeting on an alternative date or venue in 2015.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to your support for this event in 2016
