Skipton Cycle Races an exciting addition to the 2015 racing calendar with a full evening of racing for all abilities and some festival activities for those who aren’t on a bike!

News – Science Fitness Skipton Cycle Races 2nd July

Skipton Cycle Races will be a significant and exciting addition to the 2015 Criterium Calendar. Supported by Craven District Council and main sponsor Science Fitness we’ve got a full evening of racing for all abilities and some festival activities for those who aren’t on a bike!

It’s a fast and not overly technical 1km circuit around the heart of this great town on the 2nd July, the day after Otley Cycle Races. Like Otley it will be a massive spectator draw due to location and layout of the town, plenty of pubs and cafes to station yourself in and watch the action.

Velo29 are delivering the event, 1 of their 3 major Crits this season. It’s a full road closure on a fast circuit, the finish is wide with a slight uphill, there are no standing corners and the surface is good. Only a humpback bridge to challenge the riders.

The headline event is E/1/2, with a prize fund of £2,500 we are expecting all the local big names as well as travelling Elites and a good selection of strong local riders. As well as the E/1/2 we’ve got Youth racing for A+B, an U12 Fun Race and a “Ride The Circuit” free to take part in session for anyone with a bike and helmet to get on and have a go. We’ve got Roller Racing and Champion BMX Rider Matti Heaminings to keep everyone entertained during the event.
