Team RL360 Isle of Man Youth League Round 17 Report & Results

In the novices class consistent top three finisher Joel Prentice finally reached the top step on the podium, outsprinting eight time winner Abigail Cowell for a well-deserved victory. Oliver Schofield, Abbie Jones and Luke Campbell trailed in separately to grab third, fourth and fifth respectively, with George Lee edging out impressive newcomer Chloe Barks and Erin Morgan for sixth. Jasper Whalley and Noah Hutchinson got past Zachary Bowen on the finishing straight to snatch the final two places on the top ten leader board.

Kylan Murphy outgunned series leader Brad Le Geyt in a close finish to bag maximum points for the sixth time in the born 2010 & later category. Dylan Bullock was a safe third and Stanley Kinnish returned from an extended family vacation in the USA to oust Harrison Skillan, Joshua Cross, Daniel Minay and Archie Mulholland in the gallop for fourth. Samuel Dowson led Lula Kinnish, Amelie Geldart and Noah Hughes over the line for ninth, while Illiam Thomas was too strong for Jack Edwards, Ffinlo Thomas and Jayjay Plowman in the scrap for 13th. Darragh Sharkey pipped Conor Madsen-Mygdal in the bunch sprint for 17th.

Underlining his dominance of the born 2009 event, Eddie Dillon scored his 14th success of the series, coming from behind to beat breakaway partner Jake Jones in the final dash for the chequered flag. Cameron Hounsell was a solid third and leading girl May-Saa Smith held off Thomas Pickavance, Sean Crone and Harry Beattie in the tussle for fourth. Abi Clayton headed Zach Jones home for eighth and Henry Dormer managed to maintain tenth in front of the main chasing group spearheaded by Max Davies in 11th spot.

In the born 2008 race Myles Le Geyt narrowly got the verdict over Alec Sorby, T.J.Teare, Freddie Griffin and Fearne Bregazzi in the final rush for the line. George Kinnish overtook Joel Long in the closing stages to seize sixth and Charlotte Geldart stayed clear of a bunch of six pursuers to secure eighth. Charlie Williams and Edward Field rounded off the top ten.

A fast start to the born 2007 class strung out the field. Cian Howard attacked fellow frontrunner Rio Kelly on the final lap, taking the honours with a comfortable lead. Orry Lund forged ahead of Florence Griffin, Charlie Scarffe and Jordan Carter to bag third, while Samuel Barker had the edge on Jessica Pickavance, Ben Davies and James Kinrade in the scrap for seventh. Ed Coole was 11th and Ella Skillan kept Matthew Edwards at bay for 12th.

Escaping from a leading group of six riders on the penultimate circuit, Ivan Sorby soloed to an emphatic victory in the born 2006 age group. Nicola Quaye produced one of the rides of the night to take the runners-up spot in a tight finish with Tom Caine. Round 15 winner Zachary Dowson fought off a strong challenge from newcomer Aaron Corfield to pick up fourth and Samuel Devereau was too fast for Tom Darnill in the rush for sixth. Nathan Kinrade outran Jack Christian and Lucy Field in the struggle for eighth place.

Five riders contested the gallop at the end of the born 2005 three lapper, with Oliver Corkish stealing a march on Frank Kinnish to take the win. James Scott was a good third followed by Chloe Dillon and Mairi Harrison. In the following born 2004 & earlier grouping James Devereau outsprinted Dillon Dowson and the hard working Shellan Leeming for his fifth victory in a row. Kiera Prentice, Alex Brookes and Ellie Warren wrapped up the top six.

In the very well supported under 10 racing bikes Niall Colquitt led out the final gallop and maintained his advantage all the way to the finish. Owen Collins grabbed second ahead of Cian Jackson, Ivan Sorby, Drystan Sewell and Cian Howard, while the ever improving James Scott led the chasers home for seventh. Callum Salisbury, Frank Kinnish and Orry Lund finished eighth, ninth and tenth, a short distance ahead of Oliver Corkish who took 11th in a close battle with T,J,Teare, Myles Le Geyt and Mairi Harrison.

A small group of four riders eventually gapped the field in the under 12 racing bikes and stayed together to the finish where seasoned campaigner Zac Walker won the gallop for the top slot ahead of Jonty Bregazzi, Thomas Skillicorn and Matthew Cooil. Ralf Holden was fifth and Kiera Prentice the best girl in sixth place.

As usual the action in the under 16 racing bikes was fast and furious from the start. After several spirited but ultimately unsuccessful attempts to get away the race ended in a frantic twelve-up sprint for the line which Conor Davies won from Will Draper and Adam Kelly. Thomas Bostock was fourth and Max Walker the top under 14 rider in fifth place. The girls’ prize went to Eleanor Davies in 12th position.
