LIVE VIDEO: Finals & Podiums

SUMMARY
Nine titles awarded on day 6 of the 2015 UCI World Masters Track Cycling Championships at the Manchester Velodrome with riders from the USA, Australia, Britain and Argentina winning two gold each and one for the French rider Gerard Louis Robert.

In the Men’s Sprint for the 45 – 49 category, Australian Daniel Rickard beat Finnish rider Harri Rajaniemi to the Gold medal after three matches to settle the result. It was the same in the race for Bronze with James Lawrence of the USA taking two of the three wins to beat Joseph Santaniello of Norway.

In the Men’s Sprint 65 – 69, fastest qualifier Gerard Louis Robert of France was too fast for Kiwi Colin Claxton of New Zealand whilst the Bronze went to Australian Malcolm Clasohm who beat Shigeru Ito of Japan.

Not sure how many Gold medals the next winner has in his collection but at a guess, well over what I can count on fingers and toes as Geoff Cooke beat his old tandem partner David Rowe to the title in the 70-74 age category. Steffen Munch Hansen of Denmark was third after beating Earl Henry of Trinidad.

In the Men’s Sprint for 75 and over riders, James Kloss of the USA, over a second faster in qualifying won the Gold in the final against Britain’s Roland Crayford whilst another Brit, Brian Dacey beat New Zealander William Allen for the Bronze.

The Men’s Points Race (45-49) was won by Aussie Matthew Glanville who out scored Flemming Troigaard of Denmark with Daniel Casper of the USA third. Argentinan Gustavo Faris won the Men’s Points Race for the 50 – 54 age category. Australian Geoffrey Baxter was second and Peter Ettles of Great Britain third.

Team Sprint
SVS Express of the USA (Richard Voss, Kurt Sato, Aron Seiken) went faster in their second ride to upset the form book and beat fastest qualifiers from Britain, Team Whatever (Ivor Reid, Steve Cronshaw, Brad Thurrell) in the Men’s Team Sprint (55 – 64).

The Russian/New Zealand combination from Team Stealth (Vladimir Makeev, Neil Familton, Grant Tyrell) won the bronze in the ride off against British trio Phil McWilliam, Keith Williams and Brian Fudge.

In the Women’s Open Team Sprint, it was an all British final with Sister Act (Debbie Capewell and Julie Cooper) the only team to get under 37 seconds and win the Gold ahead of Pit Bitches with Madeline Moore and Janet Birkmyre. The Bronze was won by Aussie Girls (Jessica Laws, Rebecca Wheadon) who beat a Dutch/Kiwi combination of Carolien Van Herrikhuyzen and Erin Criglington.

Team Pursuit
In the longer team event, the Men’s Team Pursuit for 35 – 44 aged riders, Team Argentina (Hugo Alfredo Auge, Daniel Ricardo Del Barco, Matias Francisco Gullino, German Ariel Lopez) went three seconds faster than their qualifying ride to beat British quartet Newport Quadragintas of Jeremy Pile, Jason Streather, Andy Stuart and Robert West in the final for Gold.

French team, Equipe de France (Mickael Dhinnin, Emmanuel Vignard, Frederic Martin, Bruno Redondo) denied British quartet GBR I (Anthony Gibb, James Holland-Leader, Martin Lonie, Ben Elliott) the Bronze medal .
