News – Wheal Jane Cycle Circuit

Rod James, chair of One & All cycling club has launched a crowdfunder to raise the £10,000 needed to complete the development of the Wheal Jane Cycle Circuit, and currently at 42% of crowdfunding target after just 5 days.

The 1.4km cycle racing circuit which is on the site of the old Wheal Jane tin mine will provide a safe and dedicated facility for coaching, training and racing for cyclists of all ages, and will promote British Cycling sanctioned races to enable youth riders to progress to higher levels of racing. It will provide a much needed cycling facility for Cornwall and the South West.

‘The voice of cycling’, ITV commentator Phil Ligget wants to see the circuit succeed and has voiced a message encouraging cycling enthusiasts throughout the country to give their support.

Steve Lampier (Team Raleigh GAC) and Chris Opie (One Pro Cycling) have also given their support, alongside ex pro rider Tom Southam who raced for Great Britain under Dave Brailsford and is now Sports Director for the Drapac Professional Cycling Team in Australia.

The Wheal Jane Cycle Racing Circuit is a great opportunity for Cornwall to not only attract high calibre racers into the county, but to provide a facility for younger riders to develop to a standard that will enable them to compete at a National level.
