News: East Midlands 2012 Selection Criteria

The East Midland Region are again funding a Youth Development Squad for 2012 to a number of proposed BIG Events:

Proposed Events:
6th 8th April         Youth Tour of Scotland Road
6th 9th May         UK School Games London Road and Track (C.D. 19th Mar)
2nd 4th June         North West Youth Tour Blackpool Road
14th 16th Sept        Inter Regional Track Champs Newport
31st Aug 2nd Sept    Inter Regional MTB Champs Wharncliffe or London
(Please note this list of events is not final, some changes may be made, we will aim to finalise in the week commencing 23rd Jan)

Eligibility: All events are open to teams of four Youth Boys and Girls, A and B riders (born ‘96-‘99) apart from Four Boys and Three Girls for IRTC and A Boys only and A and B Girls for Scotland.

Selection criteria: For Youth Tour of Scotland and UKSG, performances in events in 2011 will be taken into consideration as the closing date for these events are only weeks away.

We will take into account riders being “Bike Racers”, and:
•    Attacking riding – ability to make repeated efforts.
•    Bike handling ability – cornering skills etc
•    Finish position
•    Tactical awareness

* Riders wishing to be considered for the UKSG are also expected to have some indoor track experience.
Selection races for other Key Events will be made available shortly.

To register your interest to be involved with any of the above events as a rider please contact Steve Palmer stevepalmer.coach@gmail.com stating which events you would like to be a part of.
Only riders who register there interest will be considered for selection.

We also require riders to include a brief response to the following questions:
1. Why would you like to ride for Team East Midlands?
2. What is Team?
3. What was you’re highlight of 2011 for cycling?
4. What you’re Favourite Event and why?

Closing date for getting in touch is 8 pm Sunday 29th January
