First open time trial win for Andy Bryson in Sotonia 10 on July 17. Andy Bryson continued his good form after a 2nd place the previous day with a win in Sotonia’s Test Valley 10. Julian Gee writes … Despite the expected rain holding off until after the event, there was a strong wind blowing and Bryson powered over the course in a very good 22.05. The runner up, reprising his second place in a the club championship a few days earlier was Ollie Hitchings in 23.12. This was the first time the out and back P140 course had been used for an open event and it proved to be popular with riders who took part. Sotonia also won the tandem event where Stuart Martingale pushed Julian Gee around in 24.10.
Eamonn Deane writes … Andy Bryson (Sotonia CC) scored his first open win in his own clubs promotion. The first cat road man has become something of a tester this year and is obviously enjoying it. Bryson had ridden the North Hampshire RC 10 the previous afternoon, finishing 2nd with a 21.00. Winning the Sotonia event with 22.05 he was over a minute clear of team mate and runner up Ollie Hitchings, 23.12, Bryce Dyer (VC ST RAPHAEL/WAITES CONTRACTS) was a further 9 seconds back in third. The good, honest P140 course, west of Romsey is regularly used for club events but this was the first time for an open.
