RaceBikes! A giant of a Giant for Luke Grivell-Mellor

When you’re six foot four, you need a big bike and Luke’s Giant for cyclo-cross is certainly that! Luke, second in the Peter Buckley Junior National Series on the road this year and one of the top cyclo-cross riders in the country, has ridden this bike to some great top 10 results such as those in the Rapha Super Cross series before he’s really even classed as a senior.

Then at Derby in the National Trophy, he was mixing it with the likes of Roger Hammond and says it was a shame Roger crashed because he was enjoying the battle with the Garmin professional. Shrewsbury and the Midlands champs organised by his dad Dave (Dave Mellor Cycles) will probably be the last time the bike gets an airing for a while as he rides for Rapha Condor Sharp next year on the road, one of quite a few young riders signed by John Herety.

The Bike – a Giant TCX cross bike

So big I couldn’t fit the whole bike in the picture!! The bike is a special for Luke and had to be ordered a year in advance as the size he needed wasn’t one they made so it had to be custom built. The bike roughly weighs 16.5lbs and I can confirm, it felt very light when I had to pick it! The frame the bike is based on is the Giant TCX Advanced SL frameset

TRP EuroX carbon brakes

Pro Vibe bars and stem

Fast Forward Wheels with Dugast Tubulars (Typhoon and Rhino)

Shimano Dura Ace groupset and Shimano XTR pedals

Fizik Arione saddle

Fizik Microtex Bar Tape
