Topping the bill at the final Revolution of the 2011/12 season will be Sir Chris HoyThe Revolution season finale takes place at the National Cycling Centre on Saturday 28th January marking the end of the winter track season at the Manchester Velodrome and the beginning of the final phase of preparation for the 2012 Olympics.
With the London World Cup and World Track Championships the final two major events before the Games, some of Team GB’s top sprinters will be featuring at the final Revolution looking to test their form ahead of these key events.
Topping the bill will be Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy who is relishing the prospect of getting back to competitive action following a long training block down under. “The Revolution will be a good opportunity to race and test our form a few weeks ahead of the London World Cup†commented Hoy. “We’ve been out in Perth in Australia on a long training camp and it is always good to get back to racing and see how the hard work has paid off.â€
“Revolution is a special event with a fantastic home crowd so we always want to perform at our best. There’s a strong sprint line up and I’m looking forward to the challenge.†Hoy will be joined by newly crowned Sprint World Champion Jason Kenny along with GB stars Matt Crampton and Ross Edgar. They will face a strong French trio of Mickael Bourgain, Michael D’Almeida and Quentin Lafargue as well as the newly formed V-Sprint squad featuring rising stars Dave Daniell, Pete Mitchell and Philip Hindes.
The sprint programme will span across the afternoon National Madison Championships and the evening Revolution to facilitate a full Match Sprint competition with qualifying and knockout rounds. The other sprint races during the Revolution will include a Keirin and Team Sprint.
Revolution will also see the culmination of the DHL Future Stars competition and the Elite Team Championship with several teams in contention to challenge Maxgear at the top of the leader board.
The Revolution event is sold out but tickets are still available for the National Madison Championships on www.cyclingrevolution.com or by calling 0843 208 0500. TV highlights will be broadcast on ITV4 on Monday 30th January at 7pm.
