Mixed day for Endura Racing as Voss is 7th on the stage while illness forces Dean Windsor and Jonathan Tiernan-locke to retire from the race.

The stage, a mountainous one, saw a break of five riders go away early and they quickly opened up a gap on the peloton. As they hit the mountains, Baggio (Utensilnord), Ireland’s Deignan (UHC), Nepomnyachsi (Astana), Ospina (Colombia) and Karimov (Idea) had a five minute lead but that wasn’t enough and after over two hours of racing they were caught.
By then though, the peloton was now only 50 or so strong with Paul Voss, Rene Mandri and Iker Camano in there for Endura Racing. More attacks followed and with nine kilometres to go there were five leaders chased by a group of 20 with Voss in it for Endura Racing.
The break with Italian star Danilo Di Luca was never headed with Voss leading the chase group home in 7th place, only seven seconds behind the leaders. He’s now the only Endura Racing rider in the top 10 overall.
