Time Trial championship to be held at Sawtry (Near Peterborough) (May 20) packed with star names in both mens and women’s events

The last time I went to the RTTC 10 champs (2011), which was also my first time, the stars racing included no less than Bradley Wiggins who won the event. This year, there’s no Wiggins but there is a host of familiar names. The favourite will of course be Michael Hutchinson (In Gear/TrainSharp) who won the clash between himself and Matt Bottrill (Drag2Zero) recently and with the 25 championship only a few weeks later, the result from the 10 may well be a strong form guide for the blue ribbon championship over 25 miles.
But while Hutchinson and Bottrill will be the favourites, there are other riders who may well provide a surprise upset. Junior European Time Trial Champion Joe Perrett (Ciclos Uno) for example or maybe a rider who has raced so well on the road in 2012, Erick Rowsell (Endura Racing) who has a 19.20 to his name recently in a club event. Julian Ramsbottom (Scunthorpe), a first year vet, will still be a threat for a top 5 in the championship while a rider who wore the King of the Mountains jersey in the Tour of Britain, Russell Hampton (Raleigh-GAC) is also an accomplished ‘tester’. In the Women’s race, more familair names with the likes of Lynn Hamel (Herbalife), Rebecca Slack (London Dynamo) and the favourite, Julia Shaw (www.drag2zero.co.uk).

Directions to Race HQ
From the south on the A1:Â Leave the Motorway at Junction 15. At the roundabout take the second exit onto Green End Road. The village hall is after approximately 800 yards, on the right.
From the north on the A1:Â Leave the motorway at Junction 15. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the B1043. At the next roundabout turn right into Sawtry. At the next roundabout turn right into Fen Lane. After approximately 500 yards there is one way system in the centre of the village. Take the first left turn off this onto Green End Road. The village hall is after approximately 250 yards, on the left.
Parking:There is parking at the HQ, and at the Village College behind the HQ. There is a pedestrian gate linking the two parking areas.
