The organisers had invited local businesses and bike shops to enter a team into a 5 man relay with each rider covering one lap of the town centre circuit that the pros would use later. There were 7 teams in total entered with two teams from Staffordshire Fire Service one from local bike shop Swinnertons and the local council had a team amongst the others.
The race started fast and furious with The Fire Service’s Dave Hill and Swinnertons Sean Mayer coming in to transition side by side, this was the way with nothing between the two teams for the next 3 changes leaving it all down to a man on man battle for the final lap, as the two came into the finishing straight Paul Robinson from the Fire Service accelerated hard past Barney Swinnerton to take the victory by a good few lengths.
The trophys were presented by the legendary local hero Les west.
