John Ferguson wins the categort 3/4 Wilson Wheels Road Race in East Yorkshire on a dry by breezy day

On a dry but breezy day, 42 riders started out of the full field listed and whilst the first 2 of 4 laps saw only 9 drop off the back for a variety of reasons, neither could it be said that anyone could go the other way.

Whilst Craig Gath (Yorks Cycleworks) and John Askew (Active/CP Cycles) tried more than once, they never got far away and it looked like the bunch would contest the finish together but the two usual suspects tried the same trick again in Warter with a mile to go. However, it was not to be and the top 5 places were taken by visiting riders.

Josh Ferguson (Wheelguru RT) from Oldham just held off Callum Grieve (Loughborough Students) from Yarm to fill the top 2 places before Sean Smith (Hallifax Imps) brought in the bunch, ahead of Jonathan Wolff (Sheffrec CC), Thomas Walsh (Lancashire RC) and first local rider Jacob Trotter (Squadra RT).

Good safe racing on a 10 mile circuit by new organiser Nathan Wilson saw only a dozen cars in 40 miles on some of the best cycling roads in the country. Looking forward to 2013 and more of the same weather!
