Second Gold for World sprint queen Becky James in the Women’s Keirin, Silver for Trott in Omnium and GB best nation at the end of the 2013 Track Worlds

In the best form of her life, Abergavenny’s Becky James won her second rainbow jersey of the week after winning the final of the Women’s Keirin on the final day of the 2013 Track Cycling World Championships.
The Welsh rider became the first British rider to win four medals at a single World Championships after two gold and two bronze medals. “Oh my gosh. I can’t believe it. Wow. It’s going to take a good week for it to sink in, or two weeks, or a month,” James told the BBC. “I just need someone to pinch me and tell me if it’s really happening to me. I feel like it’s a complete dream apart from the pain in my legs.”
The Olympic champion Laura Trott was beaten by USA’s Sarah Hammer in the Women’s Omnium saying after to the BBC “After the points race, I am happy to come away with a medal, so to end up with silver I am super happy”. Despite missing the likes of Sir Chris Hoy and other senior riders, the GB squad still managed to win the best nation award after winning 9 medals, including five golds, to make a confident start on the road to the Rio Olympics in 2016.
