One of the bikes that will be in the racing spotlight in 2013 is the Raleigh Militis as used by Team Raleigh this weekend in the Eddie Soens but what of the other bikes in the Raleigh range. We take a look…

The Raleigh website has three categories of bikes for racing and sportive, Performance, Endurance and Classic. Here are the bikes from the performance section:

TI RALEIGH TEAM REPLICA
If you’re going to start anywhere, this is the place to start with a replica of the bike that really made Raleigh famous in the cycling world in the 70s and 80s. Whilst the orginal TI Raleigh team bike from the 1980’s may not be available any more, there is a replica!

The frame and fork are 100% Raleigh designed, manufactured using Reynolds 525 tubing and equipped with a Campagnolo groupset and Cinelli bars and stem. Priced at £2,000.00, this limited edition bike weighs approx nine kilograms and comes with Campagnolo Veloce gears and chain set (50/34T) chainwheel with 11-27T rear cassette. Brakes though are the higher spec Campagnolo Athena whilst the wheels are Mavic Open Pro rims built on Campagnolo Record hubs (nice!) with Challenge Criterium “open tubular” tyres.

The bike is finished with Cinelli Giro D’Italia handlebar on a Cinelli 1A quill stem (110mm) & RSP EVA bar tape. The saddle is a San Marco Concor Super Corsa saddle with Microfeel cover on alloy micro adjust seat-pin. A VP alloy cage pedal with leather straps completes the bike.

Raleigh Militis £2,500.00
This is the frame used by the 2013 Raleigh team and this bike is a similar version to the one the team use and available from Raleigh and it’s stockists. The one used by the team has different wheels, group set and handlebar.

The frame for the bike is carbon fibre that results in frame weight of only 880gms. Oversized BB and chainstays minimise flex and increase power transfer, thinned seatstays offer greater vertical compliance and reduce road vibration.

The unified head and down tube are molded as a single piece to increase the front end strength and improve handling. Full carbon C5 monocoque fork weighs only 365g, reduces flex and twisting for more control in tight situations.

The weight of the bike is 7.5kg although I have heard the team version is lighter with careful selection of components and wheels. The groupset is SRAM Force 10 speed, FSA Energy 53/39t chainset with crank lengths of 170mm, 172.5mm, & 175mm available. Wheels are Cole Rollen Elite wheels with Schwalbe Durano S 700 x 23c tyres. FSA Gossamer handlebar & Gossamer 80 stem with Velo padded bar tape, Selle San Marco Concor saddle and FSA Gossamer seatpost.

The Team bike has SRAM RED with COLE T50 Lite wheels, carbon rim with Cole Patented Dynamic Spoke Alignment Hubs. Click for spec …
