Jamie Burgan wins the Ray Levers Road Race (handicap)on April 7
![]() |
A great handicapped race held over 7 x 4.3mile laps. The Long Markers set of at 10:00am sharp and held a good pace for several laps before eventually being caught by the chasing groups with 2.5 laps still remaining. The scratch group set a very fast pace from the off to chase down the middle group within the first 3 laps with some riders finding the pace to strong to hang on to.
Once it all came together the pace was driven on by the Langsett Cycles riders. Dan Storey (RST) tried to get away but was chased down then a group of 5 riders got in a break and made it stick, Jamie Burgan (Langsett Cycles), Lee Allen (Beeston RC), Sandy Smith (Nonnas La Squadra), Ben Ives (Sportscover) and Ben Werth (Out of the Saddle) all worked well together to stay away and take the first 5 places with Burgan just edging it from Allen and Smith in the sprint for the line.
