Davina McCall is urging women to get on their bikes and join her for an all-female bike ride to raise vital funds for children’s charity Action Medical Research.

The Action DIVA Sussex sets out from the East Sussex National on Saturday 11 May and there is still time to sign up.
There is a choice of three circular ride routes to cater for all fitness levels, from a ‘cool’ 21 miles, a ‘classic’ 40 or the toughest 63-mile ‘champion’ route. All take you through beautiful Sussex scenery.
This is the third year Davina has cycled to raise funds for Action Medical Research, a charity she has supported since she was a child, and she hopes her involvement will inspire more women to get in the saddle.
Currently presenting new Channel 4 game show Five Minutes to a Fortune, Davina says: “There’s not long to go now and I’m starting to get excited, so please don’t miss the chance to join me for this brilliant bike ride. By doing so, you lovely ladies will raise dosh for the most amazing charity. What better way to motivate yourself?
“It’s a beautiful route through some of the most amazing Sussex countryside. Women of all shapes, sizes and abilities take part, and Action Medical Research provides great support for all riders – so don’t be scared ladies, it’s amazing what you can do on a bike!â€
Money raised by riders in the Action DIVA Sussex will help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. The charity is currently supporting work around meningitis, Down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
The ride is supported by leading bike brand Trek and includes plenty of rest stops and refreshments. Staff riders, first aiders and massage therapists will also be on hand.
The East Sussex National is also offering a special discount for women taking part in the ride – for the evening of the 10 May, before the event, a twin room including breakfast and bike storage will cost just £99. *
Entry costs £28 and participants also need to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. Sign up now at www.action.org.uk/diva-rides
The Sussex ride is part of the Action DIVA series, with sister events taking place in Warwickshire, with Embarrassing Bodies presenter Dr Dawn Harper, and in Scotland on 19 May.
