In exceptionally windy and tough conditions, there was a good turnout for the fourth Solihull CC No Frills Circuit Races Series on 22nd May at the Tudor Grange circuit

Despite the very high speed with good aggressive riding from a wide number of riders three riders managed to force themselves off the front – Iain Palmer of Twickenham CC, Will Rudgard of Dynamic Bicycles and Elliott Reynolds of the promoting Solihull CC who had been upgraded to second category just a few days earlier after a number of fine performances.

The trio made excellent progress but, as they got close to lapping the main field, young Elliott Reynolds could hold the pace no more and hung in No man’s land with thirty minutes still to race whilst Palmer and Rudgard managed to make contact. It seemed as though Reynolds might hang on for third place but as the pace increased he was absorbed back into the main field where the bunch was splitting under repeated attacks.

Shortly before the finish Palmer and Rudgard clipped off the front again, demonstrating their strength, and the victory went to Iain Palmer of Twickenham CC. It was good to once again see positive, fast, aggressive racing from everyone there. The Series concludes next Wednesday 29th May but in between working on Tour Series events Guy Elliott and the Solihull CC are also promoting Solihull CC Circuit Races this Saturday with a few places still available in the third and fourth category race and plenty of room in the separate women’s only race.
