RST Cycle Clothing & Trigon Bikes

from Nev Pearson, Salt Ayre Cycling Association

E/1/2/

It was a race of constantly changing lead as breaks went and were brought back throughout the event. Toward the end, the favourites made the mistake of allowing Jack Pullar (Madison Genesis) to get a small lead with the hard working Steve Abbott (Teamwallis) and Frank Pilkington (Bill Nickson).

Suffice to say the three stayed away where Jack was a clear winner in the sprint and seconds later, Julian Pearson (Teamwallis) led in the bunch for 4th.

Thanks to Vanillabikes.com for sponsorship, Tony Sweeney and Geoff Newcombe for Commisairing, members of Kent Valley RC for marshalling, Dennis for manning the lap board, bell & flags, Graham Atkinson for cleaning the track and Kay Atkinson for running the sign-on and result desk. Also a special thanks to Gary Spencely for his help on the evening.

Category 3/4
When a break of 8 riders stayed clear with a good gap for quite some time, and were still clear with 10 minutes to go, it looked as if the winner would come from that group. A concerted effort however from several riders in the bunch brought it all back together for a bunch sprint where George Nolan (Clitheroe BC) was lengths clear for the win. Sarah Rose (Team 22) was best placed of the 4 female competitors.
