There was though, plenty of excitement on another warm, sunny evening. Charley Calvert (Bournemouth Arrow) sprinted to victory in the opening 6 lap scratch race, the youth riders staying together till the final lap.

Alex Jolliffe (Poole Wh) took the B Group race in identical manner, the promising fifteen year old winning the first of three races on the night. The A group 8 lap scratch was a team affair, Harrison Fielding & Andy Shackell (Peter Hansford Racing) setting up the victory for Ollie Hitchens. Hitchens, like Jolliffe caught the eye. Ellie Gilham ( VC ST Raphael) won the B/Womens 16 lap scratch race, escaping with Rebecca Raybould (Poole Wh) & Rebecca Hurst (Poole WH).

Lewis Martin (Sotonia cc) got the better of Josh Gamston (BACC) in a youth’s elimination race despite not having ridden for a month. In the B group “Devil” Jolliffe won from the front. Fielding & Bailey lapped the field in a 16 lap point’s race, the Hansford rider ahead on points.

Eve Jefferies (Poole WH) bandaged from an “Off” at the weekend was feeling ok, winning a 6 lap block handicap, Lucy Gadd (Poole Wh) also won a block handicap before Jolliffe got his hatrick, some great chasing in a 16 lap block handicap going down to the wire.

Another fifteen year old, Brendan Drewett (Fareham Wh) out- foxed the more experienced to win the A group elimination , then Josh Gamston took a furious 3 lap youth handicap sprint, the Commisaire got it just right! The evening ended with an eventful A/B 15 KM Scratch race. Jolliffe, Hitchens & Dave Gilham (Bournemouth Arrow) worked well to take a lap early on.

Frustration in the lapped bunch spilled over, protests of dangerous riding were voiced too strongly by Fielding, leaving Chief Commisaire, Gerrish Gray no option but to disqualify a clearly embittered rider.

Hitchens kept his cool and took another lap with Jolliffe and Gilham chasing hard. Andy Shackell (Peter Hansford Racing) also took a lap but the race was gone.
