The second stage of the Tour of Jamtland (Sweden) saw IG Sigma Sport rider Peter Williams lose the overall lead and drop to third place overall with Welsh rider Jon Mould (UK Youth) in second overall.
Jesper Dahlstrom was second stage of the Tour of Jämtland after the 194 km stage between Vemdalen and Åre. Second was Jon Mould, Team UK Youth and third Ludvig Bengtsson. It was a quiet start today until Marcus Fåglum Karlsson attacked in the bottom of Klövsjö Mount and after much deliberation, returned with two other riders, Asmund Løvik, TWC and David Bartholomew from Uppsala CK.
The breakaway held until Mörsil and the remaining final two laps around the Tott Hotel saw the race speed increase gradually. Today’s stage had a tough finish inside the central Ã…re with a climb having an average gradient of 18% to be climbed twice!
The strongest on the last bit was Jesper Dahlstrom, a bit of a revenge because he was second on this particular stage last year. Britian’s Jon Mould, Team UK Youth was second at five seconds with third Ludvig Bengtsson at 10 seconds.
Today’s winner Jesper Dahlstrom now takes over the leader’s jersey and now leads by 5 seconds ahead of Jon Mould and 6 seconds ahead of third-place Peter Williams Team IG Sigma Sport. Tomorrow see’s the real test of strength on the final stage between Trondheim – Ã…re, 214 km with 1800 meters of climbing.
