Velo29’s calendar draws to a close on the 28th September with the White Horse Sportive from Stokesley in North Yorkshire.

There are 3 routes, all priced at a very competitive £15. Velo29 have already brought us two great Sportives this year as well as the Stockton Cycling Festival which had a Premier Calendar race and Elite Criterium. From leaving the headquarters for the event, riders are immediately on quiet picturesque lanes with hardly a car in sight.

The short route of 21.5 miles is mostly flat but does have the option of taking in Clay Bank, a 500m short sharp climb with the last 50m at 25%. At 62.5 miles the medium route is quite a challenge, after less than 10 miles riders will ascend the locally infamous Carlton Bank.

It’s 1,850m long and the 2nd half is between 15-25%, it’s a real killer! Carlton was the climb used in the 1996 National Hill Climb Championship, if anyone can get within 1 minute of Stuart Dangerfield’s time, they too deserve a medal!

Both the Medium and 68.5 mile long route take in Carlton Bank and there is an Altura KOM Strava section on the climb for those wanting to get competitive. All routes enjoy lovely scenery with great support from Velo29 Events, some of the roads used on the medium and long are not at well known by local riders, and defiantly not by cars!. It’s a great Sportive to close the season on, there is always a fun atmosphere at Velo29 events and the White Horse is no exception.

Velo29’s portfolio of events continues to grow and already for 2014 plans are in place for some great new venues.
