KTM Bike Industries is already a major player in the European market and has recently begun distribution in the UK. The bikes have already received excellent reviews and the brand is set to make an even bigger splash in 2014.

The new KTM team intends to compete in a full international UCI calendar of racing at home in the UK, in Europe and in Asia. As a UK-based team key goals for the year will be gaining selection for the Tour of Britain and the Ride London Classic.

“With a sponsor like KTM, we have more options than if we had a purely UK based sponsor” says Tristan Mayor of FLI Distribution, the UK distributor of KTM bicycles.

“The guys at KTM know the road scene on a Europe-wide scale, and see the UK as an important part of that rather than something separate. It’s a pretty exciting project because of this, and it gives us scope to compete both at home and abroad and take full advantage of a UCI Continental licence. The international flavour of the team’s prospective race calendar has been a real draw for our riders.”

The team will provide great opportunities for developing new talent as well as giving new opportunities to experienced riders. There will be an emphasis on providing an extensive calendar of international racing which will have the additional benefit of sharpening the team for their UK targets, including the new national road race series. The team will hope to offer one of the best calendars of any domestic UK Continental team, giving the riders every chance possible to showcase their cycling talents.

The composition of the team balances experienced riders capable of winning races in the UK and in Europe and development riders who will receive guidance and support from the top tier, whilst gaining invaluable experience and the chance of glory.

Further to this, there will be a limited number of self-funded spots available. These are for development riders on the internal KTM development program while remaining an integral part of the team. The structure will include accommodation, equipment, coaching and access to experience in UCI races.

Riders wishing to apply for this should send an email to info@team-ktm.co.uk
