The Madison Boot Out Breast Cancer Cycling Team announces rider roster for the 2014 season
![]() |
Riding to promote the work of Boot Out Breast Cancer the team hopes to do well in all the UK national level events as well as National Champioships and select UCI level events. The team has a strong mix of youth and experience, with over half of the team looking for Commonwealth Games selection for their respective home nations and every member already having international road racing experience. The majority of the team also come with a strong track pedigree too and will look to target the Track National Championships at the end of the road season too. With the importance of team and working as a unit at the heart of every members application, the squad will look to use the strengths of the riders wisely in the various events it intends to compete in.
Speaking of the riders selections, manager and director of the team Barney Storey said, “I was overwhelmed by the number and quality of the applications we had for the new team. There is so much talent in the UK women’s racing scene and so it was a tough job selecting our final line up. I am delighted to have been able to select riders who all have strong international riding experience and all have the ambition to ride at the highest level. It is also a bonus they all come with a great track pedigree too, so we are looking forward to the season from start to finish!â€
The team will start its journey together at a training camp based at Club La Santa in Lanzarote from 12th-19th December and will also compete at the 4 stage Club La Santa Cycling Trophy. This event is also open to anyone from the cycling community who would like to spend a week in the sun training and racing. Anyone who would like to join the team for this week should contact Club La Santa via their website www.clublasanta.co.uk
Saturday 8th March will be the official team launch at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester and will include an opportunity for local cyclists to meet and ride with the team. This date will also see Boot Out Breast Cancer hold their annual fundraising Ball, which the team will also attend, and anyone who would like to buy tickets to join in the fundraising effort and spend an evening with the team should visit www.bootoutbreastcancer.org.uk for more details.
