The boss at Omega Pharma Quickstep speaking to Sporza also said that the team may well put everything behind Cavendish for the Tour de France despite having signed Uran from Team Sky.

“It is clear that we need to put everything on Cavendish. I count at least eight opportunities for the sprinters and though there are some pitfalls, maybe we should choose Uran for the Giro and Vuelta and for Kwiatkowski to ride for a classification in the Tour”

“Mark Cavendish was beaten in this year’s Tour, but that was because he was not 100 percent. He will want to show that he is indeed the best sprinter in the world” says Patrick Lefevere defending the honor of Cavendish who was beaten several times by Marcel Kittel in this year’s race.

“He will be highly motivated, but also super nervous. During the first stage, there is not only the “glory” but also the yellow jersey at stake.”

With only one time trial, the race is not favourable for Tony Martin, World time trial champion. “It is unfortunate for him that there is only one trial” says Lefevere. He will have to adapt” adding that he will be at the service of Cavendish. And Tom Boonen? The Classis hero has indicated that he’d like to ride the Tour says Lefevere but the boss added that its too early to say whether he will.
